Commissioning of data centers is frequently viewed as an afterthought and often performed by contractors and system vendors. The challenge with this approach is two-fold: typically, vendors and contractors do not perform complete testing to bring systems to their breaking point; and the commission process is the last opportunity to discover any serious issues that will eventually spring up, often at the worst times.
PlanNet offers independent, third-party commissioning services for just these reasons. We start by developing rigorous commissioning plans and scripts, and engaging commissioning specialists with trained staff and proper equipment such as load banks. It’s critical to have a detailed plan to ensure every system is tested in the right way.
We review our plan in detail with the commissioning vendor, engineers, contractors and system manufacturers prior to performance of test activities. Once the plan is accepted, our engineers are on-site to review and inspect the process and ensure every system has passed testing and, if not, steps are taken to fix, replace and retest equipment prior to going live.
